Kong Inc.Added 18 Oct 2026
Remote · United States$165,000 – $185,000 / yearDevOps
Are you ready to unlock intelligence?
If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria below but are still interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box - we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.
Senior SRE, Managed Gateways
About the Role:
Kong's Managed Gateways is the fastest-growing product in the Kong portfolio, a SaaS offering with ARR growing multifold. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer focused on Managed Gateways, you'll be instrumental in architecting and maintaining the resilient, scalable infrastructure that powers Kong's mission-critical managed services — and you'll be the technical face of that product for the enterprise customers who depend on it, directly ensuring the reliability and performance that lets them build the next generation of connected applications at global scale.
What You’ll Do:
Cloud Gateways is a complex, multi-cloud problem — supported across AWS, GCP, and Azure — and our enterprise customers run large, often unique topologies. This role carries two equally deep engineering mandates: owning production reliability for the platform, and acting as the senior technical authority who takes an enterprise customer from kickoff to a fully successful, live implementation.
Platform & Reliability Engineering
Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers dedicated to Kong's Managed Gateway offerings.
Architect and implement robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant cloud-native systems using technologies like Kubernetes, Golang, and major cloud providers.
Own the end-to-end operational lifecycle, from proactive monitoring and alerting to incident response and blameless post-mortems, ensuring continuous service improvement.
Drive a culture of developer delight by implementing automation, self-service tooling, and streamlined workflows for deploying and managing API gateways.
Define, track, and report on key SLOs and SLIs to ensure optimal performance and reliability of Managed Gateways.
Champion technical debt prevention and advocate for architectural best practices that enhance system resilience and reduce operational toil.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, engineering, and Customer Success to influence roadmap decisions and ensure operational readiness for new features.
Enterprise Implementation Engineering
Partner directly with enterprise customers — working alongside Product leadership, Professional Services, and Customer Success — to drive end-to-end onboarding and implementation of Cloud Gateways, and productize recurring implementation patterns into repeatable playbooks and platform capabilities.
Bring deep, cross-cloud breadth (AWS, GCP, Azure) to handle unique customer topologies and turn complex setups into successful, production-ready deployments.
Serve as the technical owner of the customer relationship through implementation, primarily supporting our North America customer base, and be the escalation point Customer Success leans on for technically complex accounts.
Feed real-world implementation patterns and customer constraints back to Product to further contribute the roadmap.
What You’ll Bring:
The Toolkit
Extensive experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, focusing on highly available and distributed systems.
Deep expertise with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures, preferably across multiple public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Strong proficiency in Golang or similar modern programming languages for automation and tool development.
Proven track record in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
In-depth knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog).
Experience with managed services, API gateways, or similar network infrastructure is highly desirable.
The Kong DNA
You take immense ownership of your systems, treating reliability as a first-class feature.
You operate with a sense of urgency, especially in critical situations, and drive quick, effective resolutions.
You thrive in a collaborative environment, actively sharing knowledge and elevating the entire team.
Kong moves fast, and our team's spread across continents and time zones — plans shift mid-flight, and things don't always line up neatly. You don't need everything settled to do good work. You bring your own calm to the noise, figure things out as you go, and help the people around you do the same.
Bonus Points:
Experience with Service Mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
Familiarity with database administration for high-throughput systems (PostgreSQL, Cassandra).
Contributions to open-source SRE tools or projects.
Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA).

If you're ready to make an impact and grow your career, Legion is where you belong. Join us in making hourly work rewarding and fulfilling.
BACKGROUND AND OPPORTUNITY
There are almost 75 million hourly workers in the United States, representing more than half of the entire workforce. Historically, managing hourly employees has been difficult due to high attrition (average of 60%) and high replacement costs (average of $3,200 per employee in retail). The ongoing labor shortage and competition from the gig economy make it more difficult to attract and retain hourly employees. The top reasons hourly employees leave their jobs are a lack of schedule empowerment, poor communication with employers, and an inability to get paid early. Gen Z and the millennial workforce demand gig-like flexibility, modern technology, and compelling work options. Legion’s mission is to turn hourly jobs into good jobs, serving the hourly workers who make up the majority of the US workforce. We believe in empowering employees and helping employers be efficient and innovative by enabling intelligent automation powered by Legion’s Workforce Management platform to optimize labor efficiency and enhance the employee experience simultaneously. Legion WFM was built for the cloud with AI at the core and designed to handle the complexity of modern businesses and meet the needs of today’s hourly employees. Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals from all backgrounds and experiences, globally distributed across all time zones.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. About Solace
Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults do not have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients with expert advocates and giving them the tools to make better decisions—and get better outcomes.
We're a Series C startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, Signalfire, and IVP. Our U.S. based team is lean, mission-driven, and growing quickly.
Solace isn't a place to coast. We're here to redefine healthcare—and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you're looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you're in the right place. We’re intense, and we like it that way.

About the Role
Good plumbing is quiet and invisible, and so is good infrastructure. As a Senior Platform Engineer at Solace, you will join our platform engineering team and help build the infrastructure powering the future of health care. You enable product and data engineers to move aggressively and deploy daily, build safeguards to autonomously recover from failures, and fix things when they can't.
You are a generalist who can work both independently and as part of a team, spanning high-level architecture and low-level foundations. You are curious and always learning. You look deeper than the surface at how systems work, how they fail, and how they can self-heal. You take pride in your craft, have impeccable communication skills, and you absorb feedback exceptionally well. You aren't afraid to make mistakes and learn more from them. Above all, you enjoy taking ownership and are stifled by large organizations.
What You'll Do
Help build out our cloud infrastructure and application platform
Assess risk and impact for changes to our live environment
Join our on-call rotation
Troubleshoot problems emerging from complex interactions of technology, governance, and people
Design and build autonomous self-healing processes in our systems
Be a resource for product and data engineers in your areas of expertise. Learn and grow into other areas of expertise.
Communicate with stakeholders and internal platform customers
What You Bring to the Table
Platform engineering requires a diverse and wide-ranging set of skills. We are looking for the following core skills and experiences:
Experience working in a start-up environment
Experience building scalable infrastructure for hosting web applications or data workloads
Deep troubleshooting. You relentlessly dig through architectural and abstraction layers to identify root causes, sometimes under time pressure. You have done this solo and in a team. You have generated and tested hypotheses. You have generated and implemented solutions.
Fluent on the command line and comfortable working with Linux
Strong communication skills
Cloud infrastructure. Experience working with GCP, AWS, or Azure. GCP experience preferred. Bonus for experience working with cloud landing zones. Familiar with GitOps technologies, such as Terraform.
Networking. Understanding VPCs, subnets, routes, peering, DNS, load balancers, L4/L7 routing, NAT gateways, CDNs, TLS, and how they all work together.
Observability. Integrated and worked with tools such as Datadog and OpenTelemetry for infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring, and database performance. Comfortable helping instrument application code, building dashboards, and working with application engineers.
And One or More of the Following Focus Areas:
Site reliability. You have improved performance, reliability, and cost across the entire stack, from front-end to back-end.
Kubernetes. Understand how to best use its self-healing and extensibility to run workloads scalably, resiliently, and securely, and fix it when it breaks.
Polyglot. Comfortable with different languages and learning new ones. Proficient at reading code, understanding what it does, and its operational characteristics during runtime.
Devops. Built, optimized, and maintained continuous integration and continuous delivery systems.
Developer Product Experience. You built tools and low-friction experiences for product and data engineers, designing and delivering them with a product mindset.
Data Infrastructure. You moved databases. Built warehouses, connectors, and replicators. Implemented access controls, optimized and fixed pipelines.
Distributed Systems. You built both coordination-bound and coordination-free systems and know the tradeoffs in terms of scalability, reliability, and resilience. You have worked with systems spanning multi-regions. You got your hands dirty fixing systems that collapsed.
Security. Worked in a highly-regulated industry such as healthcare with cloud infrastructure
Applicants must be based in the United States.
Up for the Challenge?
We look forward to meeting you.
